We were all thrown into it when the pandemic started, right? Homeschool. Parents, who hadn’t done mental math in years, were sent shivering in their pantries. (you know…the place we all go to sneak candy and chocolates…right? Just me? Ok, moving on.)
My husband and I had a Kindergartener and a 2-year-old, and I had plans of my own on how I was going to spend time with one less kid in the house…This year I would have had NO kids in the house, but we’ll save that for another time.
We have now been homeschooling for 3 years, and I am happy to report I have found a love for it, and yes, a certain love for this “new math” that so many parents were panicking over at first. (My husband pointed out that I complained a lot about it at the time…didn’t think he was listening…)
Why I Know You Can Do It
I had no educational background when we started.
I am confident that, if you are contemplating homeschooling, you can do it! Why am I confident in the abilities of someone I have never met before? You are a mother, father, or otherwise guardian of an amazing child that deserves the very best education! I know you can give it to them! You know their likes, dislikes, and needs better than anyone else out there!
What Does It Take To Homeschool?
To homeschool successfully takes determination, effort, time, and love. Who is better at that than you for your child? Yes, there will be days that you want to pull your hair out. (aren’t there already?) There will be times when the chairs and table in the office are overturned. (ahem…speaking from experience here) But then there will be times when you tear up at seeing your child grow to a new understanding of reading, math, or any other subject you choose to teach. And there will be times when you see your child, who hated reading, enjoying a book that you never thought possible, and your heart will soar when he says, “This is the best book ever!”
And those are the moments you live for, my friend. Those are the things that make every day worth it. So I know you can do it because you already have what it takes to homeschool!
